Whirlpool/Roper/Estate Top Loader

These are all made by whirlpool and are on the lower end of the price scale. Very durable machines with parts easily available. These are direct drive which makes them easy to service if needed. Not as eco friendly as the others but will last for years and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to repair. Whirlpool has been manufacturing this type of machine for over 30 years with proven reliability. This machine is available with the extra large capacity.



Maytag Centennial

What this machine lacks is some of the high-tech, but unreliable technology that got Maytag into trouble with the Neptune line. In place of fancy electronics, this Centennial machine relies on simple dial controls. The only real con for some would be the somewhat smaller capacity. This is a back to basic machine with proven reliability and good construction.

If it's just basics that you want for your laundry needs then take a look at the top-loading General Electric Washer. There aren't a lot of bells and whistles on this priced-to-sell model, but it's sufficiently equipped to wash a typical home's laundry with ease. Again a proven design that will run for years to come.
